In 2025, an extraordinary round-the-world train journey returns for the second time, proving there’s a strong demand for ultra-luxurious train travel.

Have you ever dreamed of traveling around the globe by train, but with all the luxury imaginable, instead of cramped overnight sleepers? If so, you’re in for a treat. High-end travel company Railbookers has announced the return of its “Around the World By Luxury Train” itinerary for 2025.

This 59-day adventure takes passengers across four continents, 12 countries, and more than 20 cities aboard some of the most opulent trains in existence. However, this ultimate journey comes with a hefty price tag of €116,000 per person—and even at that, not everything is included. Here’s what you need to know if you’re considering this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What Can Travelers Expect on This Round-the-World Luxury Train Journey?

The journey, starting on September 3, 2025, promises not only lavish travel but also immersive cultural experiences at every stop. Passengers will ride on seven of the world’s most iconic trains, including the Belmond Royal Scotsman in Scotland, Italy’s La Dolce Vita Orient Express, and the renowned Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

In Canada, travelers will board the scenic Rocky Mountaineer, while South Africa will offer the grandeur of the Rovos Rail. In India, guests will experience the opulence of The Maharajas’ Express, and Southeast Asia will be explored via the Eastern and Oriental Express.

Though the trip predominantly features rail travel, it’s not as eco-friendly as one might expect from a train-focused journey. For instance, the adventure begins in Vancouver with a scenic train ride through the Canadian Rockies. However, from there, passengers fly to Europe for the next leg, exploring Scotland’s breathtaking scenery before traveling through Italy, visiting cities such as Rome, Verona, and Venice, and continuing to Paris.

After leaving France, the trip moves through Budapest, Bucharest, and Istanbul, concluding the European portion. From there, another flight takes passengers to Delhi, India. It’s worth noting that flights between continents—such as the ones from Canada to Scotland and from Europe to India—are not included in the tour price.

After exploring India’s iconic sites like the Taj Mahal in Agra, passengers embark on yet another flight, this time a 14-hour journey to Johannesburg, South Africa (again, at an additional cost). In South Africa, they will journey aboard the Rovos Rail, passing through Hwange National Park and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Guests will need to take yet another flight to return to South Africa to continue their journey through Cape Town.

After visiting Table Mountain and sampling local wines, it’s off to Singapore via a 13.5-hour flight, which could cost over €1,000 for a one-way ticket. From Singapore, the Eastern and Oriental Express will take travelers on a round trip through Malaysia, after which they will fly home at their own expense.

Why Choose This Round-the-World Luxury Train Expedition?

While this Railbookers journey may be unattainable for most, it remains a truly unique experience. With a newly adjusted itinerary, guests will enjoy luxurious accommodations both aboard the trains and in five-star hotels along the way.

At each destination, curated excursions will offer exclusive experiences, from private tours of landmarks like the Taj Mahal to gourmet dining featuring world-class cuisine.

Railbookers has already opened bookings, but spaces are expected to fill up quickly. For those unable to commit to the entire journey, there’s the option to customize the trip, selecting specific rail segments or preferred destinations.

“When we created this one-of-a-kind journey last year, it was in response to the rising demand for luxury train travel around the world,” said Railbookers President and CEO Frank Marini. “We’re thrilled to introduce a new and exciting itinerary for 2025, and have already received hundreds of inquiries from travelers eager to tick these iconic rail adventures off their bucket lists.”
