Air New Zealand has been voted the world’s safest airline for 2024 by AirlineRatings.com, a website that rates products and safety.

By the slimmest of margins, Air New Zealand has overtaken Qantas, the victor from last year, for the top slot.

Editor-in-Chief of AirlineRatings.com Geoffrey Thomas states: “Our Top Twenty-Five Safest Airlines are all pioneers in the industry, leading the way in safety, innovation, and the introduction of new aircraft.” Mr. Thomas stated, “The safety margins between these top twenty-five airlines are very small.” There are barely 1.5 points separating Qantas and Air New Zealand. It is really near.

Serious incidents, recent fatal accidents, audits from aviation’s regulatory and industry bodies, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives, expert pilot training assessment, and fleet age are just a few of the many factors that AirlineRatings.com considers when making its evaluation.

However, because the airline has little control over situations like bird strikes, turbulence injuries, weather diversions, and lightning strikes, these are not included in the evaluation.

The editors of AirlineRatings.com chose Air New Zealand because the airline places a strong emphasis on safety, has excelled in a wide range of safety-related areas down to the tiniest detail, and sends its pilots into some extremely difficult situations.
