On June 28, American Airlines will begin service to Haneda from JFK, making it the first airline in the United States to provide nonstop flight between New York and Tokyo.

Previously, to go to Tokyo, travelers from JFK would have needed to take a flight operated by Japan Airlines or All Nippon Airways (ANA), or make a stopover in another location.
The tickets for nonstop flight between New York and Tokyo went on sale on February 26.
The flight to Japan is scheduled to take off from JFK at 11:25 a.m. and land in Haneda at 2:30 p.m. the following day. Every day at 4:30 p.m., the return flight departs from Haneda and lands at JFK at 4:35 p.m. The flight time between the two airports is around 12 hours and 50 minutes, but since the flight crosses the international dateline, it appears as though the return trip to the US takes very little time.
Direct flights are available from Newark to Narita, Japan by United Airlines.
The first US airline to provide non-stop service from New york to Tokyo was Pan American World Airlines.
