And today, the app unveiled Uber Sleigh, the first on-demand reindeer sleigh ride in the world, adding a festive twist to that custom.

Since its inception in 2009, Uber has been pushing the boundaries of what a car-booking service can do. We’re not just talking about food delivery; over the last decade, riders have been able to book everything from a helicopter ride to cuddle time with kittens from a local shelter using the ride-hailing app. You could even book an Uber wedding at one point.
In a festive twist on that tradition, the app has today launched Uber Sleigh, the world’s first on-demand reindeer sleigh ride.
Yes, you read that correctly: for a very limited time, and if you happen to be near the Arctic Circle, you can use the Uber app to bring your wildest holiday fantasies to life. And it’s completely free!

The reindeer rides depart twice daily from Apukka Resort in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, between December 12 and 18. Hail a sleigh for a two-hour scenic ride through the spectacularly wintry landscapes of the Lappish countryside. Sleighs will be parked after gliding through snow-covered forests and past massive frozen lakes for a midway snack of traditional hot berry juice and sweet treats around a log fire. It’s an improvement over sitting in the back of a Toyota Prius.

Reindeer rides can be reserved on the app up to an hour before departure and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. What’s the best part? They’re completely free! All you have to do now is book your flights to Lapland…
