The study used Manawa.com data on over 2,000 adventure activities accessible in 30 European nations to determine what types of activities are available and where the best places to go.

France topped the list of adventure sports destinations with 687 bookable venues spanning 13 different activities like canyoning, ice-climbing, mountain biking and more.
Canyoning was found to be the most popular activity in France, accounting for about a third of all adventure activities. French mountain ranges and stunning landscapes, such as the Alp’s and Pyrenees, make it ideal for adventure sports enthusiasts.

Second position went to Spain, with 261 adventure sports bookable sites, while Italy came in third with 189 adventure sports. As a matter of fact, canyoning was the most popular pastime in both places.

Over one-fifth (22%) of all activities in and around the Scottish capital are headquartered there, according to the report, which also looked at the best locations in the UK for adventure sports.

This year’s second-place winner was Fort William in Scotland, which is known for its spectacular cliff tops and open water spaces. Of all activities in the United Kingdom, 34 percent of them can be booked at one of these places. In Scotland, 43 percent are available for booking.

It’s no surprise that surfing hotbeds Newquay, Bude, and Perranporth appear in the top 20.

“Booking adventure sports has become increasingly popular over the last year as people have grown desperate for some post-lockdown excitement. But there are a few things to remember when you are booking that all-important trip away. To make sure that you stay safe online when travelling to an adventure weekend in Europe or the UK, be mindful of scams that might seem too good to be true.
