President William Ruto said on December 12 that visitors from all around the world will no longer need a visa to enter Kenya as of January.
According to Ruto, his government has created a digital platform that guarantees every guest will obtain an electronic travel authorization ahead of time, negating the need for them to apply for a visa.
At an event celebrating Kenya’s 60 years of independence from Britain, he declared, “It shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to bear the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya.” Nairobi, the country’s capital, was the venue for his statement.

Ruto has long spoken in favor of allowing entry into Africa without a visa.
He declared that by the end of 2023, citizens of African nations would not need a visa to enter Kenya during a meeting held in the Republic of Congo in October.
Kenya’s tourism sector, which offers wildlife safaris inland and beach vacations along its Indian Ocean coastline, is extremely important to the country’s economy.
“Kenya’s message to humanity is straightforward: Welcome home!” he exclaimed.
