As of June 2020, all Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) hotels have received the Qatar Clean Programme certificates. The landmark has been achieved at a time when good hygiene standards are of utmost importance. The Qatar Clean Programme is responsible for making sure that hotels have the highest standards when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness.
The momentous occasion was marked with a visit to the W Doha Hotel by the QNTC’s Secretary General, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker, alongside Berthold Trenkel, COO. W Doha was the first hotel to receive the Qatar Clean Certificate.
While this is already good news for tourism, the even better news is that the Qatar Clean Programme will be extended to restaurants, retail, culture, and even transport. The clean certification should allow tourists to Qatar with greater confidence. As of now, Qatar has begun to ease restrictions, and it’s hotels and restaurants are functioning at limited capacity. Moreover, they are only serving vaccinated people.
QNTC’s Secretary General, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker said, “As we mark one year of our Qatar Clean programme, we are very pleased with its successful implementation. One hundred percent of QNTC-licensed hotels have now been certified Qatar Clean. The programme illustrates how together with our stakeholders, we have been able to innovate and adapt to the challenges of the past year.”
He further said that people coming to Qatar can experience its award-winning hospitality, and enjoy the offerings in a safe environment.
