Carnival Cruise Line is turning up the fun and unveiling its exciting roadmap for the future—introducing the bold new Innovation Itinerary, a five-year plan focused on delivering unforgettable guest experiences, unveiling groundbreaking new ships, and expanding to thrilling new destinations and new ships.

Unveiled by Carnival President Christine Duffy aboard Carnival Celebration in PortMiami, the Innovation Itinerary is built on three core pillars: operating the most fun fleet at sea, creating extraordinary destination experiences, and growing a loyal Carnival community. With a record 29 ships already sailing, Carnival’s vision for the future is brighter—and more fun—than ever.
Next-Gen Ships: Meet the Future of Fun
Get ready for more fun at sea! Carnival revealed two new additions to its celebrated Excel class—Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale. These ships pay homage to Carnival’s early trailblazers while raising the bar on modern cruising.

Carnival Festivale – Launching Spring 2027 from Port Canaveral
Designed for families and fun-seekers alike, Carnival Festivale is packed with innovative features:
- New immersive music zones across decks 6, 7, and 8 that celebrate the joy of sound—from high-energy performances to interactive musical experiences.
- A whopping 1,000 connecting staterooms—perfect for families, replacing the former Family Harbor concept.
- Carnival’s Turtles Program: Enhanced spaces and new experiences for the youngest cruisers (6 months to 2 years).
- Sunsation Point: A thrilling top-deck family zone featuring Carnival Waterworks Ultra, the largest water park at sea with six slides, toddler splash zones, dry play trails, sports courts, mini golf, and a nighttime illuminated playground atmosphere.

In a fresh culinary twist, Emeril Lagasse and Carnival’s Food & Beverage team are cooking up a brand-new dining venue to replace ChiBang!, while fan favorites like Guy’s Burger Joint, Big Chicken, and Pig & Anchor Smokehouse will remain on board.
Carnival Tropicale – Arriving Spring 2028
Carnival’s fifth Excel-class ship, Carnival Tropicale, will bring many of Festivale’s features plus exciting new surprises. Stay tuned for its homeport and booking details.
Project Ace – The Next Evolution in Cruising
Carnival is also setting its sights even higher with Project Ace, a new ship class featuring three mega-ships—each weighing in at 230,000 gross tons and accommodating nearly 8,000 guests. The first will debut in 2029, with the next two arriving in 2031 and 2033. These ships will redefine cruising with cutting-edge entertainment, reimagined outdoor spaces, and innovative dining—cementing Carnival’s legacy as the Fun Ship leader.

New Homeports & Deployment Plans
With Carnival Festivale joining the fleet in 2027, Mardi Gras will switch to offering shorter cruises from Port Canaveral—giving time-conscious travelers a taste of Excel-class fun.
Carnival is also strengthening its presence in key secondary markets:
- Mobile, Alabama will once again welcome year-round sailings starting in spring 2027.
- Plans are underway to move a larger Conquest-class ship to Baltimore, increasing guest capacity by 1,000 compared to Carnival Pride.
Destinations Reimagined: Welcome to the Paradise Collection

Carnival isn’t just innovating at sea—it’s reinventing the cruise destination experience with its exclusive Paradise Collection.
- Celebration Key (Opens July 2025): Carnival’s first private destination designed exclusively for its guests promises the ultimate day in paradise, with over 1,400 sailings already scheduled through 2027.
- RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay (2026): A new pier will soon welcome even the largest Carnival ships, making this stunning beach escape even more accessible—without compromising its natural charm.
- Isla Tropicale (currently Mahogany Bay, Roatán): This lush destination is getting a full makeover with a swim-up bar, poolside cabanas, expanded beach areas, and a beach club experience.
Upgrades to the Existing Fleet
Carnival also announced plans to modernize its current ships with updated décor, new dining and entertainment venues, and refreshed programming inspired by features on the newest vessels. Enhancements will roll out as ships head into scheduled dry docks over the coming years.
Revamping the Loyalty Experience
Big news for Carnival fans—its VIFP (Very Important Fun Person) loyalty program is getting a major refresh! The updated program will unlock more value and personalized experiences for returning guests, with details coming this summer and full rollout expected in 2026.
