A sweeping financial reform in Greece took effect on August 11, 2025, fully abolishing ATM withdrawal fees at all Greek bank-operated ATMs. Now, customers can access cash without charges when using machines from any bank participating in the DIAS interbank network.
Under the new regulations, a maximum fee of €1.50 applies for withdrawals from third-party ATMs—such as Euronet or Cashflex—unless the ATM provider is affiliated with the cardholder’s bank or when there is only one ATM in a municipality; in those cases, service remains free.

In addition, balance inquiries at any ATM are now free of charge, regardless of provider. Transfers via web, mobile, or internet banking through third-party providers incur a flat fee of just €0.50—on par with in-bank digital transfers.
This legislative overhaul, passed on July 25, 2025, was introduced swiftly in response to public outcry when some banks began charging excessive fees after outsourcing ATM operations to affiliated third-party firms.
