The Venice Entry Tickets Are Now Available: And Here’s How to Get Them

After struggling with the challenges of overtourism for several years, Venice has decided to introduce a wntry tickets system for day-trippers wishing to enter the city.

The new system, slated to commence on April 25, will be selectively enforced during peak season, spanning late April through July 14.

The ticket price is set at 5 euros, approximately $5.45. Visitors must acquire tickets for each person and for each day they intend to visit.

However, those who have reserved overnight accommodations in the city will be exempt from the entry ticket requirement, as stated on the ticket website. Nevertheless, overnight visitors must secure an exemption in advance of their arrival.

Tourists planning to explore this popular Italian destination will need to purchase entry tickets through a newly launched online platform by the Venice City Council.

Once day-trippers purchase passes online, a copy is emailed to them, serving as their entry ticket. This ticket can be printed or saved on their phone.

It’s essential to note that entry tickets are unnecessary for those visiting between 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., while they are required from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Minors under the age of 14 are exempt, although proof of age may be requested.

Exemption Requests:

A dedicated page on the new website lists numerous exemption categories. Hotel guests in Venice are among those exempt, and visitors should acquire an exemption pass before arriving in the city.

Hotel guest exemptions are valid from the day of arrival until departure. Other exemptions include individuals visiting Venice’s lagoon islands, such as Murano, Burano, and Lido. However, if passing through Venice to reach the islands, an entry ticket is still required.

Tickets can be canceled until 11:59 p.m. the night before the scheduled visit, providing a degree of flexibility for visitors.
