Whether you’re looking for an adventure-filled holiday or a relaxing break in nature, there are plenty of things to do in Bansko.

Bansko is a picturesque mountain town in Bulgaria that attracts thousands of visitors every year. We had heard that this location was a great place to go skiing. But when we visited in December 2022, we were unable to enjoy the snow at all. However, during our five-day stay, we were never bored and had plenty things to do in Bansko. With its charming old town, world-class ski slopes, and stunning natural scenery, it’s no wonder that Bansko is considered one of the best winter destinations in Europe.

There is plenty things to do in Bansko, whether you want an adventure-filled vacation or a relaxing break in nature.

  • Skiing and snowboarding: Bansko is renowned for its ski resort, which boasts over 75 kilometers of ski slopes. With slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a complete novice, the ski resort offers excellent facilities, ski schools, and rental shops, so you can enjoy the slopes to the fullest. The ski season typically runs from December to April, and with an average snowfall of over two meters per year, you can be sure that the slopes will be in great condition.
  • Soaking in the hot springs: Bansko is surrounded by hot springs, which are famous for their therapeutic properties. The town is home to several spa resorts that offer a range of treatments and services, including hot springs baths, massages, and saunas. Whether you’re looking to relax after a long day on the ski slopes or simply want to pamper yourself, a soak in the hot springs is a must-do activity.
  • Exploring the old town: Bansko’s old town is a charming maze of cobblestone streets and traditional Bulgarian houses, many of which have been beautifully restored. Here, you can admire the town’s Ottoman-era architecture, including its many churches, monuments, and cultural landmarks.
