As the airline gets ready to introduce a new seasonal flights route from Chicago to Athens, Greece, this spring, it can’t help but think of moussaka and ouzo.
Beginning on May 23, the airline will operate daily flights between the Greek capital city and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, according to a report from Travel + Leisure. Through August 12th, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft will be used for the nonstop trips.
“United continues to have the largest and most diverse network across the Atlantic and we’re thrilled to add another exciting destination for customers flying out of Chicago O’Hare to explore with our new summer service to Athens.”
Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances
United will also operate flights to Greece, Athens from its hubs in Newark and Washington, D.C., which will reopen on March 30 and April 14, respectively, in addition to Chicago. United announced that it will boost its summertime flight schedule to Athens by about 25% as a result of the new route.
United intends to provide transatlantic service from Chicago to a number of European locations, including Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, Reykjavik, Milan, and more, in addition to Athens.
In addition to adding more flights between the United States and Canada with service to nine different Canadian destinations, United plans to begin seasonal service between Washington, D.C. and Anchorage on May 23. This news coincides with the announcement of the new Athens route.
“United is making it easier than ever to get to fun destinations across North America this summer, as we know people want to spend time outdoors,” Quayle added.
