According to Confused.com, the most romantic driving location in the world is the German Alpine Road. The historically rich route has a romance score of 9.56/10 and is accompanied by stunning heaven-kissing landscapes. Drivers can stop at the Linderhof Palace or Neuschwanstein Castle for a real-life fairy-tale experience along the 525km route, which takes nearly nine hours to complete. 42.77 percent of all hotel and restaurant reviews were romantic, which is 3.54 percent more than Puglia, which came in second place.

Meanwhile, three of the top ten locations are in Italy. Routes in Puglia (9.13/10) and the Amalfi Coast (8.69/10) come in second and third, highlighting the beauty of Italy’s seafront. Puglia has 180 kilometers of rarely visited coast set against a backdrop of caves and cliffs. Puglia’s romantic venues were described as such by 39.23 percent of visitors, only 1.36 percent more than the Amalfi Coast. These include Masseria Cervarolo, which received the highest rating of any hotel or restaurant in the study, with an astounding 64.3 percent of reviewers praising its romanticism.

The Amalfi Coast offers a shorter but equally beautiful journey, measuring only 61 kilometers – the shortest of the top ten. This journey from Salerno to Sorrento emphasizes adventure, with thrilling, zigzagging roads and the option of visiting the historic ancient ruins of Pompeii. The Amalfi Coast’s venue reviews revealed that 37.87 percent of visitors were feeling romantic, which is 3.48 percent higher than Tuscany, Italy’s final route in the top five, which had 34.39 percent of restaurant and hotel reviews containing romantic language.
