The Nautilus, a new 37.5-meter submersible yacht designed by Dutch builder U-Boat Worx, was unveiled last week at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show. The vessel combines the comforts and amenities of a superyacht with submarine-like submersible capabilities.
The Nautilus has a diesel-electric propulsion system that allows it to cruise at speeds of up to 9 knots (16.7 km/h) across the ocean. It is designed to stay underwater for up to four days or six hours at a speed of four knots (7.4 km/h).
The 1,250-ton hybrid can carry up to seven crew members and ten passengers. It has a maximum range of 3,200 nautical miles (5,926 km). The submersible yacht can also dive to a depth of 200 meters (650 feet).
The opulent interior includes a 50-square-meter (538-square-foot) dinner and lounge area with four circular windows with diameters close to 4 meters. The proposed submarine design includes a fully equipped galley, one owner’s suite, four staterooms, and sleeping quarters for up to six crew members.
The Nautilus, when used as a yacht, has a sizable sundeck with a freshwater pool, a bar, and a sumptuous dining table. While the Nautilus is diving, a newly developed, entirely pressure-resistant electrical tender is kept outside and stowed under the aft deck. Five scuba divers can go underwater in this tender, the Aronnax, to the designated dive site.
The Nautilus can be berthed at any wharf that can support its 6.5-meter draft when not in operation. Starting at €25 million is the price of the Nautilus. An owner can anticipate receiving their Nautilus within 30 months of placing their purchase.
