Bigăr Waterfall in Cheile Nerei-Beușnița National Park collapsed on Monday due to natural causes, Romsilva announced.
“Unfortunately, we also have some bad news. Bigăr Waterfall, one of the most beautiful tourist objectives in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park, collapsed today due to natural causes “, the Romsilva National Forests Directorate announced on Facebook on Monday.
Representatives of the company claim that the travertine and muscles that have accumulated over time have increased in size and weight, and on Monday the waterfall gave way under its own weight.
According to the same source, Romsilva employees are on site to assess the situation.
In 2013, the international specialized press nominated Bigăr Waterfall as the most beautiful waterfall in the world.
